Music that I love

Hello! For this blog I was like, what can I talk about??? And nothing occurred to me…until a beautiful song (Cellophane) started playing in my playlist and I decided that  I am going to talk about music!  specifically, about two groups/vocalist that I am currently obsessed with

First, about a wonderful woman that I recently started to listen, I started to pay attention and I fell in love with her sounds, videos, aesthetic and voice. I am talking about Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known as FKA Twigs, she is an English singer with Jamaican and Spanish descent. Her music is described as R&B, electronic and avant pop. I really love her songs, is like an experience out of this world! Her most recent album is Magdalene, and to put it in some way, this album has like a magic essence, her visuals are precious. I feel an important symbolism and a lot of interpretation possibilities. One of my currently favorite songs is Mary Magdalene from the album Magdalene.

The other musical group I am going to talk about is Amnesia scanner, an electronic duo based in  the experimental scene of Berlin. Their songs are electronic and experimental, with loud distorted and abstract sounds. I really like their rhythms, which are very crazy and exciting! Their music it is like a connection to nightmares and meaningless planes hahaha. Despite being a not very well-known duo, Amnesia scanner have collaborated with another artist that I love, Mykki Blanco. My favorite album of them is Another Life and Tearless. If I listen to their songs for a long time, my ears hurt haha because I like the volume to the maximum 馃檨. Also, I love their music videos, especially AS going and AS ac谩.

These videos are great and very chaotic:

And as a "recommendation", other artists that I've been obsessed with are: Arca, Sevdaliza, Igorrr and Louis and the yakuza (all very different from each other lol)

Postgraduate studies

Hello!

I haven’t spent much time thinking about what I want to study after finishing my actual major (anthropology). I only know that I would like to go deeper into multidisciplinary studies! You know, like expanding my horizons with theories and ideas from different sciences that I can reach in Chile. Also, I would prefer to “continue” studying on my own. Being an autodidact. So, I could manage my time better and not worry about the stress of constant evaluations of the educational system. Like, I would love to be free and learn in a calm way without restrictive and super normative pressures.

I have a huge interest in art, I would love to specialize myself in something related with the history of art -from multiple perspectives- and the techniques of art! like, learn to paint and things like that. Enter to an academy or some part-time course of art. Although this is a dream of my own and I could say is a hobby rather than a career. But art is so important for humans! And it can be studied and created from so many perspectives. Art concentrates a lot of cultural, aesthetic and historical meanings.

Other thing I have interest on are gender studies. I would like to do a master in gender studies. I mean, those studies are fundamental to understand and criticize social and cultural conceptions of our world, from an anthropological perspective. Is a topic that affects a large part of the population!
I like to keep in mind that I still have a lot of time to think about the future haha

My future job

Hello, in this blog i’m going to share with you about my future job.

My plan is to work as a social anthropologist. I am not sure about what job in specific because there are many possibilities haha, but I would love to use all my energies making investigations about human race, society and culture. I imagine myself doing social research with objectives that seek solutions to social problems.

Definitely, I will travel a lot! I want to do field work in different parts of Chile (and if it is possible, in other countries), by that I mean etnography. I prefer the outside work. The etnography is a systematic study of group of people, their culture and worldview about any topics or specific experiences and history. Usually, the etnography works have a qualitative perspective, where the emotionality, social evaluation and symbolism are fundamental.

And the salary, for the moment, is in the back of my mind, because I still have a long way to finish my studies. But I hope I’m going to have a salary that allows me to live without big worries, a salary that gives me stability.

In this moment, I am in my second year of the career anthropology. And, in the next year I will have to choose one mention of three options –Social anthropology, Archeology or Physical anthropology-.I’m going to choose Social anthropology because I'm interested in studying about social structures in a qualitative way.

I still have a lot of time to think about a specific job to work but there is one thing that I'm sure of...I'm going to make investigations and studies about society and culture.
